طُوبَى لِلرَّجُلِ الْخَائِفِ مِنَ الرَّبِّ. وَيَهْوَى وَصَايَاه جِدّاً. يَقْوَى نَسْلُهُ عَلَى الأَرْضِ، وَيُبَارَكُ جِيلُ الْمُسْتَقِيمِينَ. هَلِّلُويَا.

But he that had received the one, going his way digged into the earth, and hid his lord's money. But after a long time the lord of those servants came, and reckoned with them. And he that had received the five talents coming, brought other five talents, saying: Lord, thou didst deliver to me five talents, behold I have gained other five over and above. His lord said to him: Well done, good and faithful servant, because thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will place thee over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord. And he also that had received the two talents came and said: Lord, thou deliveredst two talents to me: behold I have gained other two. His lord said to him: Well done, good and faithful servant: because thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will place thee over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord. وَكَأنمَا إنْسَانٌ مُسَافِرٌ دَعَا عَبِيدَهُ وَسَلَّمَهُمْ أَمْوَالَهُ، فَأَعْطَى وَاحِداً خَمْسَ وَزَنَاتٍ، وَآخَرَ وَزْنَتَيْنِ، وَآخَرَ وَزْنَةً. كُلَّ وَاحِدٍ عَلَى قَدْرِ طَاقَتِهِ. وَسَافَرَ. فَمَضَى الَّذِي أَخَذَ الْخَمْسَ وَزَنَاتٍ وَتَاجَرَ بِهَا، فَرَبِحَ خَمْسَاً أُخَرَ. وَهكَذَا أيْضاً الَّذِي أَخَذَ الاثْنَتَيْنِ، رَبِحَ اثْنَتَيْنِ أُخْرَيَيْنِ. وَأمَّا الَّذِي أَخَذَ الْوَاحِدةَ فَمَضَى وَحَفَرَ في الأَرْضِ وَأَخْفَى فِضَّةَ سَيِّدِهِ. وَبَعْدَ زَمَانٍ طَوِيلٍ جَاءَ سَيِّدُ أُولئِكَ الْعَبِيدِ وَحَاسَبَهُمْ. فَجَاءَ الَّذِي أَخَذَ الْخَمْسَ وَزَنَاتٍ وَقَدَّمَ خَمْسَ وَزَنَاتٍ أُخَرَ قَائِلاً: يا سَيِّدِي، خَمْسَ وَزَنَاتٍ أَعْطيتَنِي. هُوَذَا خَمْسُ وَزَناتٍ أُخَرُ رَبِحْتُهَا. فَقَالَ لَهُ سَيِّدُهُ: حَسناً أيهَا الْعَبْدُ الصَّالِحُ وَالأمِينُ، كُنْتَ أمِيناً في الْقَلِيلِ فَأُقِيمُكَ عَلَى الْكَثِيرِ. اُدْخُلْ إلى فَرَحِ سَيِّدِكَ. ثُمَّ جَاءَ الَّذِي أَخَذَ الْوَزْنَتَيْنِ وَقَالَ: يا سَيِّدِي، وَزْنَتَيْنِ سَلَّمْتَنِي. هُوَذا وَزْنَتَانِ أُخْرَيَانِ رَبِحْتُهُمَا. قَالَ لَهُ سَيِّدُهُ: نِعِمَّا أيهَا الْعَبْدُ الصَّالِحُ وَالأَمِينُ، كُنْتَ أَمِيناً في الْقَلِيلِ فَأُقِيمُكَ عَلَى الْكَثِيرِ. اُدْخُلْ إلى فَرَحِ سَيِّدِكَ. وَالْمَجْدُ لِلَّهِ دَائِماً.

اُذْكُرْ يَارَبُّ دَاودَ وَكُلَّ دِعَتِهِ. كَمَا أَقْسَمَ لِلرَّبِّ وَنَذَرَ لإلَهِ يَعْقُوبَ. كَهَنَتُكَ يَلْبَسُونَ الْبِرَّ، وقِدِّيسُوكَ يَبْتَهِجُونَ مِنْ أَجْلِ دَاودَ عَبْدِكَ. هَلِّلُويَا.

And they that were troubled with unclean spirits, were cured. And all the multitude sought to touch him, for virtue went out from him, and healed all. And he, lifting up his eyes on his disciples, said: Blessed are ye poor, for yours is the kingdom of God. Blessed are ye that hunger now: for you shall be filled. Blessed shall you be when men shall hate you, and when they shall separate you, and shall reproach you, and cast out your name as evil, for the Son of man's sake. *By faith Abraham, when he was tried, offered Isaac: and he that had received the promises, offered up his only begotten son; (To whom it was said: In Isaac shall thy seed be called.) Accounting that God is able to raise up even from the dead. Whereupon also he received him for a parable. By faith also of things to come, Isaac blessed Jacob and Esau. By faith Jacob dying, blessed each of the sons of Joseph, and adored the top of his rod. By faith Joseph, when he was dying, made mention of the going out of the children of Israel; and gave commandment concerning his bones. By faith Moses, when he was born, was hid three months by his parents; because they saw he was a comely babe, and they feared not the king's edict. By faith Moses, when he was grown up, denied himself to be the son of Pharao's daughter; Rather choosing to be afflicted with the people of God, than to have the pleasure of sin for a time, Esteeming the reproach of Christ greater riches than the treasure of the Egyptians. بِالإيمَانِ قَرَّبَ إبْرَاهِيمُ إسْحَقَ حِينَ جُرِّبَ. وَقَرَّبَ ابْنَهُ الوَحِيدَ ذَاكَ الَّذِي قَبِلَ الْمَوَاعِيدَ بِسَبَبِهِ، الَّذِي قِيلَ لَهُ: "إنَّهُ بِإسْحَقَ يُدْعَى لَكَ نَسْلٌ". وَافْتَكَرَ في نَفْسِهِ أنَّ اللَّهَ قَادِرٌ أنْ يُقِيمَهُ مِنَ الأمْوَاتِ، فَمِنْ أجْلِ هذَا أخَذَهُ بِمِثَالٍ. بِالإيمَانِ مِنْ أجْلِ مَا سَيَكُونُ بَارَكَ إسْحَقُ يَعْقُوبَ وَعِيسُو. بِالإيمَانِ يَعْقُوبُ عِنْدَ مَوْتهِ بَارَكَ كُلَّ وَاحِدٍ مِنْ ابْنَيْ يُوسُفَ، وَسَجَدَ عَلَى رَأْسِ عَصَاهُ. بِالإيمَانِ يُوسُفُ عِنْدَ مَوْتهِ ذَكَرَ خُرُوجَ بَنِي إسْرَائِيلَ وَأَوْصَى مِنْ أجْلِ عِظَامِهِ. بِالإيمَانِ مُوسَى، لَمَّا وُلِدَ، أخْفَاهُ أبوَاهُ ثَلاَثَةَ أَشْهُرٍ، لأنهُمَا رَأَيا الصَّبِيَّ جَمِيلاً، وَلَمْ يَخَافَا مِنْ أمْرِ الْمَلِكِ. بِالإيمَانِ مُوسَى لَمَّا كَبِرَ أَنْكَرَ أنْ يُدْعَى ابْناً لابْنَةِ فِرْعَوْنَ، وَشَاءَ بالأحْرَى أنْ يَتَألَّمَ مَعَ شَعْبِ اللَّهِ أفْضَلَ مِنْ أنْ يَتَنَعَّمَ بِالْخَطِيَّةِ زَمَنَاً يَسِيراً، إذْ جَعَلَ عَارَ الْمَسِيحِ عِنْدَهُ أنهُ غِنى عَظِيمٌ أوْفَرُ مِنْ كُنُوزِ مِصْرَ؛ لأنهُ كَانَ يَنْتَظِرُ حُسْنَ الْمُجَازَاةِ. بِالإيمَانِ تَرَكَ مِصْرَ وَلَمْ يَخَفْ مِنْ غَضَبِ الْمَلِكِ، لأنهُ ثَبَتَ لغَيرِ المَنْظُورِ مِثْلَ وَاحِدٍ مَنْظُورٍ. بِالإيمَانِ صَنَعَ الْفِصْحَ وَرَشَّ الدَّمَ لِئَلاَّ يَمَسَّ الْمُهْلِكُ أبْكَارَهُمْ. بِالإيمَانِ عَبَرُوا في الْبَحْرِ الأَحْمَرِ كَمَا في أَرْضٍ يَابِسَةٍ، الأَمْرُ الَّذِي لَمَّا شَرَعَ فِيهِ الْمِصْرِيُّونَ غَرِقُوا. بِالإيمَانِ سَقَطَتْ أَسْوَارُ أَرِيحَا بَعْدَمَا طِيفَ حَوْلَهَا سَبْعَةَ أيامٍ. بِالإيمَانِ رَاحَابُ الزَّانِيَةُ لَمْ تَهْلِكْ مَعَ العُصَاةِ، إذْ قَبِلَتِ الْجَاسُوسَيْنِ بِسَلامٍ. نعمةُ اللَّهِ الآبِ فَلْتَحِلَّ عَلَى أرواحِنا يا آبائي وإخْوَتي. آمين.

١ : ١٢ − ٢١

*Blessed is the man that endureth temptation; for when he hath been proved, he shall receive a crown of life, which God hath promised to them that love him. Let no man, when he is tempted, say that he is tempted by God. For God is not a tempter of evils, and he tempteth no man. But every man is tempted by his own concupiscence, being drawn away and allured. Then when concupiscence hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin. But sin, when it is completed, begetteth death. Do not err, therefore, my dearest brethren. Every best gift, and every perfect gift, is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no change, nor shadow of alteration. For of his own will hath he begotten us by the word of truth, that we might be some beginning of his creatures. You know, my dearest brethren. And let every man be swift to hear, but slow to speak, and slow to anger. For the anger of man worketh not the justice of God. Wherefore casting away all uncleanness, and abundance of naughtiness, with meekness receive the ingrafted word, which is able to save your souls. Do not love the world or the things in the world. The world passes away, and its desires; but he who does the will of God abides forever. Amen.

طُوبَى لِلرَّجُلِ الَّذِي يَصْبِرُ في التَّجْرِبَةِ، لأنهُ إذَا صَارَ مُخْتَارَاً يَنَالُ إكْلِيلَ الْحَيَاةِ، الَّذِي وَعَدَ بِهِ الرَّبُّ لِلَّذِينَ يُحِبُّونَهُ. لا يَقُلْ أَحَدٌ إذَا جُرِّبَ: "إنَّ اللَّهَ قَدْ جَرَّبَنِي "؛ لأنَّ اللَّهَ لا يُجَرِّبُ بِالشُّرُورِ، وَهُوَ لا يُجَرِّبُ أَحَداً. وَلكِنَّ كُلَّ وَاحِدٍ يُجَرَّبُ إذَا انْجَذَبَ وَانْخَدَعَ مِنْ شَهْوَةِ نَفْسِهِ. ثُمَّ إنَّ الشَّهْوَةَ إذَا حَبِلَتْ فَإنَّهَا تَلِدُ خَطِيَّةً، وَأمَّا الْخَطِيَّةُ إذَا كَمَلَتْ فَإنَّهَا تَلِدُ الْمَوْتَ. لا تَضِلُّوا يَا إخْوَتِي وَأَحِبَّائِي. كُلُّ عَطِيَّةٍ صَالِحَةٍ وَكُلُّ مَوْهِبَةٍ تَامَّةٍ فَهِيَ مِنْ فَوْقُ، نَازِلَةٌ مِنْ عِنْدِ أبِي الأَنوَارِ، الَّذِي لَيْسَ عِنْدَهُ تَغْيِيرٌ وَلا شِبْهُ ظِلٍّ يَزُولُ. قَدْ شَاءَ فَوَلَدَنَا بِكَلِمَةِ الْحَقِّ لِكَيْ نَكُونَ بَاكُورَةَ خَلائِقِهِ. وَاعْلَمُوا يَا إخْوَتِي الأحِبَّاءَ، لِيَكُنْ كُلُّ إنْسَانٍ مِنكُمْ مُسْرِعَاً في الاسْتِمَاعِ، مُبْطِئاً في التَّكَلُّمِ، مُبْطِئاً في الْغَضَبِ، لأنَّ غَضَبَ الإنْسَانِ لا يَصْنَعُ بِرَّ اللَّهِ. لِذلِكَ اطْرَحُوا كُلَّ نَجَاسَةٍ وَكَثْرَةَ الشَّرِّ، وَاقْبَلُوا بِوَدَاعَةٍ الْكَلِمَةَ الْمَغْرُوسَةَ جَدِيداً، التي يُمْكِنُهَا أنْ تُخَلِّصَ نُفُوسَكُمْ. لا تُحِبُّوا العَالَمَ ولا الأشْيَاءَ التي في العَالَمِ، لأنَّ العَالَمَ يمْضِي وَشَهْوَتُهُ مَعَهُ، وأمَّا مَنْ يَعملُ مَشِيئَةَ اللهِ فإنه يَثْبُتُ إلى الأبدِ. آمين.

*And God wrought by the hand of Paul more than common miracles. So that even there were brought from his body to the sick, handkerchiefs and aprons, and the diseases departed from them, and the wicked spirits went out of them. Now some also of the Jewish exorcists who went about, attempted to invoke over them that had evil spirits, the name of the Lord Jesus, saying: I conjure you by Jesus, whom Paul preacheth. And there were certain men, seven sons of Sceva, a Jew, a chief priest, that did this. But the wicked spirit, answering, said to them: Jesus I know, and Paul I know; but who are you? And the man in whom the wicked spirit was, leaping upon them, and mastering them both, prevailed against them, so that they fled out of that house naked and wounded. And this became known to all the Jews and the Gentiles that dwelt at Ephesus; and fear fell on them all, and the name of the Lord Jesus was magnified. And many of them that believed, came confessing and declaring their deeds. And many of them who had followed curious arts, brought together their books, and burnt them before all; and counting the price of them, they found the money to be fifty thousand pieces of silver. So mightily grew the word of God, and was confirmed. The word of the Lord shall grow, multiply, be mighty, and be confirmed, in the holy Church of God. Amen.

وَكَانَ اللَّهُ يَصْنَعُ عَلَى يَدَيْ بُولُسَ قُوَّاتٍ كَثِيرَةً، حَتَّى إِنَّهُمْ كَانُوا يَأخُذُونَ مَنادِيلَ وَخِرَقاً مِنْ عَلَى جَسَدِهِ وَيَضَعُونَهَا عَلَى الْمَرْضَى، فَتَزُولُ عَنْهُمُ الأمْرَاضُ، وَتَخْرُجُ الأرْوَاحُ الشِّرِّيرَةُ. فَابْتَدَأ قَوْمٌ مِنَ الْيَهُودِ الطَّوَّافِينَ الْمُعَزِّمِينَ أنْ يُسَمُّوا بِاسْمِ الرَّبِّ يَسُوعَ عَلَى الَّذِينَ بِهِمِ الأرْوَاحُ الشِّرِّيرَةُ قَائِلِينَ: "نَسْتَحْلِفُكُمْ بيَسُوعَ الَّذِي يَكْرِزُ بِهِ بُولُسُ!" وَكَانَ سَبْعَةُ بَنِينَ لِوَاحدٍ يُدْعَى سَكَاوَا، يَهُودِيٍّ رَئِيسِ كَهَنَةٍ، يَفْعَلُونَ هَذَا. فَأجَابَ الرُّوحُ الشِّرِّيرُ وَقَالَ لَهُمْ: "أمَّا يَسُوعُ فَأَنا أَعْرِفُهُ، وَبُولُسُ أَنا أَعْلَمُهُ، وَأمَّا أنْتُمْ فَمَنْ أنْتُمْ؟". فَوَثَبَ عَلَيْهِمُ الرَّجُلُ الَّذِي كَانَ بِهِ الرُّوحُ الشِّرِّيرُ، وَتَسَلَّطَ وَقَوِيَ عَلَيْهمْ، حَتَّى هَرَبُوا مِنْ ذَلِكَ الْبَيْتِ عُرَاةً مَشْدُوخِي الرُّؤوسِ. وَصَارَ هَذَا ظَاهِراً لِجَمِيعِ الْيَهُودِ وَالْيُونَانِيِّينَ السَّاكِنِينَ في أَفَسُسَ. فَوَقَعَ خَوْفٌ عَلَى جَمِيعِهِمْ، وَكَانَ اسْمُ الرَّبِّ يَسُوعَ يَتَعَظَّمُ. وَكَانَ كَثِيرُونَ مِنَ الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا يَأْتونَ مُعْتَرِفِينَ وَمُخْبِرِينَ بِأَفْعَالِهِمْ، وَكَانَ كَثِيرُونَ مِنَ الَّذِينَ يَسْتَعْمِلُونَ السِّحْرَ يُقَدِّمُونَ كُتُبَهُمْ وَيُحرِّقُونَهَا أمَامَ الْجَمِيعِ. وَحَسَبُوا أَثْمَانَهَا فَوَجَدُوهَا تُقَدَّرُ بِخَمْسِ رَبَوَاتٍ مِنَ الْفِضَّةِ. هكَذَا كَانَتْ كَلِمَةُ الرَّبِّ تَنْمُو وَتَقْوَى بِشِدَّةٍ. لَمْ تَزَلْ كَلِمَةُ الرَّبِّ تَنْمُو وتَكْثُرُ وتَعْتَزُّ وتَثْبُتُ، في بِيعَةِ اللَّهِ الْمُقَدَّسَةِ. آمين.

And his fame went throughout all Syria, and they presented to him all sick people that were taken with divers diseases and torments, and such as were possessed by devils, and lunatics, and those that had palsy, and he cured them: And much people followed him from Galilee, and from Decapolis, and from Jerusalem, and from Judea, and from beyond the Jordan. Christ's sermon upon the mount. The eight beatitudes. And seeing the multitudes, he went up into a mountain, and when he was set down, his disciples came unto him. And opening his mouth, he taught them, saying: Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are the meek: for they shall possess the land. Blessed are they that mourn: for they shall be comforted. Blessed are they that hunger and thirst after justice: for they shall have their fill. Blessed are the merciful: for they shall obtain mercy. It is good for nothing any more but to be cast out, and to be trodden on by men. You are the light of the world. A city seated on a mountain cannot be hid. Neither do men light a candle and put it under a bushel, but upon a candlestick, that it may shine to all that are in the house. So let your light shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father who is in heaven. Glory be to God forever.

وَكَانَ يَسُوعُ يَطُوفُ في كُلِّ الْجَلِيلِ يُعَلِّمُ في مَجَامِعِهِمْ، وَيَكْرِزُ بِبِشَارَةِ الْمَلَكُوتِ، وَيَشْفِي كُلَّ مَرَضٍ وَكُلَّ وَجَعٍ في الشَّعْبِ. فَذَاعَ خَبَرُهُ في جَمِيعِ سُورِيَّةَ. فَأحْضَرُوا إلَيْهِ جَمِيعَ السُّقَمَاءِ بِالأَمْرَاضِ وَالأَوْجَاعِ الْمُخْتَلِفَةِ، وَالْمَجَانِينَ وَالْمَصْرُوعِينَ وَالْمَفْلُوجِينَ، فَشَفَاهُمْ. وَتَبِعَهُ جُمُوعٌ كَثِيرَةٌ مِنَ الْجَلِيلِ وَالْعَشْرِ الْمُدُنِ وَأُورُشَلِيمَ وَالْيَهُودِيَّةِ وَمِنْ عَبْرِ الأُرْدُنِّ. وَلَمَّا رَأى الْجُمُوعَ صَعِدَ إلى الْجَبَلِ، فَلَمَّا جَلَسَ جَاءَ إلَيْهِ تَلامِيذُهُ. فَفَتَحَ فَاهُ وَعَلَّمَهُمْ قَائِلاً: "طُوبَى لِلْمَسَاكِينِ بِالرُّوحِ؛ لأنَّ لَهُمْ مَلَكُوتَ السَّمَوَاتِ. طُوبَى لِلْحَزَانَى الآنَ؛ لأنهُمْ يَتَعَزَّوْنَ. طُوبَى لِلْوُدَعَاءِ؛ لأنهُمْ يَرِثُونَ الأَرْضِ. طُوبَى لِلْجِيَاعِ وَالْعِطَاشِ إلى الْبِرِّ؛ لأنهُمْ يُشْبَعُونَ. طُوبَى لِلْرُّحَمَاءِ؛ لأنهُمْ يُرْحَمُونَ. طُوبَى لأَنْقِيَاءِ الْقَلْبِ؛ لأنهُمْ يُعَايِنُونَ اللَّهَ. طُوبَى لِصَانِعِي السَّلامِ؛ لأنهُمْ أبْنَاءَ اللَّهِ يُدْعَوْنَ. طُوبَى لِلْمَطْرُودِينَ مِنْ أَجْلِ الْبِرِّ؛ لأنَّ لَهُمْ مَلَكُوتَ السَّمَوَاتِ. طُوبَاكُمْ إذا طَرَدُوكُمْ وَعَيَّرُوكُمْ وَقَالُوا عَلَيْكُمْ كُلَّ كَلِمَةٍ شِرِّيرَةٍ، مِنْ أَجْلِي، كَاذِبِينَ. اِفْرَحُوا وَتَهَلَّلُوا؛ لأنَّ أَجْرَكُمْ عَظِيمٌ في السَّمَوَاتِ، لأنهُمْ هكَذَا طَرَدُوا الأنْبِيَاءَ الَّذِينَ قَبْلَكُمْ. أَنْتُمْ مِلْحُ الأَرْضِ، وَإذَا فَسَدَ الْمِلْحُ فَبِمَاذَا يُمَلَّحُ؟ لا يَصْلُحُ بَعْدُ لِشَىْءٍ، إلاَّ لأنْ يُطْرَحَ خَارِجَاً وَيُدَاسَ مِنَ النَّاسِ. أَنْتُمْ نُورُ الْعَالَمِ. لا يُمْكِنُ أنْ تُخْفَى مَدِينَةٌ مَوْضُوعَةٌ عَلَى جَبَلٍ، وَلا يُوقِدُونَ سِرَاجاً وَيَضَعُونَهُ تَحْتَ مِكْيَالٍ، بَلْ يَضَعُونَهُ عَلَى الْمَنَارَةِ فَيُضِيءُ لِكُلِّ مَنْ في الْبَيْتِ. فَلْيُضِئْ نُورُكُمْ هكَذَا قُدَّامَ النَّاس، لِكَيْ يَرَوْا أَعْمَالَكُمُ الْحَسَنَةَ، وَيُمَجِّدُوا أَباكُمُ الَّذِي في السَّمَوَاتِ". وَالْمَجْدُ لِلَّهِ دَائِماً.
