تُبَادِرُ الرُّؤَسَاءُ إلى كُلِّ الْمُرَتِّلِيْنَ، في وَسَطِ صَبَايَا ضَارِبَاتٍ بِالدُّفُوفِ. بَارِكُوا اللَّهَ في الْكَنَائِسِ، وَالرَّبَّ مِنْ يَنَابِيعِ إسْرَائِيلَ. هَلِّلُويَا.

*And when Jesus was in Bethania, in the house of Simon the leper, There came to him a woman having an alabaster box of precious ointment, and poured it on his head as he was at table. And the disciples seeing it, had indignation, saying: To what purpose is this waste? For this might have been sold for much, and given to the poor. And Jesus knowing it, said to them: Why do you trouble this woman? for she hath wrought a good work upon me. For the poor you have always with you: but me you have not always. For she in pouring this ointment upon my body, hath done it for my burial. Amen I say to you, wheresoever this gospel shall be preached in the whole world, that also which she hath done, shall be told for a memory of her. Glory be to God forever.

وَفِيمَا كَانَ يَسُوعُ في بَيْتِ عَنْيَا في بَيْتِ سِمْعَانَ الأَبْرَصِ، جَاءَتْ إلَيْهِ امْرَأةٌ مَعَهَا قَارُورَةُ طِيبٍ كَثِيرِ الثَّمَنِ، فَسَكَبَتْهُ عَلَى رَأْسِهِ وَهُوَ مُتَّكِئٌ. فَلَمَّا رَأَى تَلاَمِيذُهُ ذلِكَ تَقَمْقَمُوا قَائِلِينَ: "لِمَاذَا كَانَ هذَا الإتْلاَفُ؟ لأنهُ كَانَ يُمْكِنُ أنْ يُبَاعَ هذَا بِكَثِيرٍ وَيُعْطَى لِلْفُقَرَاءِ". فَعَلِمَ يَسُوعُ وَقَالَ لَهُمْ: "لِمَاذَا تُتْعِبُونَ الْمَرْأَةَ؟ فَإنَّهَا قَدْ عَمِلَتْ بِي عَمَلاً حَسَناً! لأنَّ الْفُقَرَاءَ مَعَكُمْ في كُلِّ حِينٍ، وَأَمَّا أَنَا فَلَسْتُ مَعَكُمْ في كُلِّ حِينٍ. لأنَّ هذِهِ قَدْ سَكَبَتْ هذَا الطِّيبَ عَلَى جَسَدِي لِتَكْفِينِي. الْحَقَّ أَقُولُ لَكُمْ: حَيْثُمَا يُكْرَزْ بِهذَا الإنْجِيلِ في كُلِّ الْعَالَمِ يُخَبَّرْ أيْضاً بِمَا فَعَلَتْهُ هذِهِ الْمَرْأَةُ تِذكَارَاً لَهَا". وَالْمَجْدُ لِلَّهِ دَائِماً.

*The woman saith to him: Sir, give me this water, that I may not thirst, nor come hither to draw. Jesus saith to her: Go, call thy husband, and come hither. The woman answered, and said: I have no husband. Jesus said to her: Thou hast said well, I have no husband: For thou hast had five husbands: and he whom thou now hast, is not thy husband. This thou hast said truly. The woman saith to him: Sir, I perceive that thou art a prophet. Our fathers adored on this mountain, and you say, that at Jerusalem is the place where men must adore. Jesus saith to her: Woman, believe me, that the hour cometh, when you shall neither on this mountain, not in Jerusalem, adore the Father. You adore that which you know not: we adore that which we know; for salvation is of the Jews. But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true adorers shall adore the Father in spirit and in truth. For the Father also seeketh such to adore him. God is a spirit; and they that adore him, must adore him in spirit and in truth. Glory be to God forever.

قَالَتْ لَهُ الْمَرْأَةُ: "يَا سَيِّدي أَعْطِنِي هذَا الْمَاءَ؛ لِكَيْ لا أَعْطَشَ وَلا آتِيَ إلى هُنَا لأَسْتَقِيَ". قَالَ لَهَا يَسُوعُ: "اذْهَبي وَادْعِي زَوْجَكِ وَتَعَالَيْ إلى هُنَا". أَجَابَتِ الْمَرْأَةُ وَقَالَتْ: "لَيْسَ لِي زَوْجٌ". قَالَ لَهَا يَسُوعُ: "حَسَناً قُلْتِ لَيْسَ لِي زَوْجٌ؛ لأنهُ كَانَ لَكِ خَمْسَةُ أَزْوَاجٍ، وَالَّذِي مَعَكِ الآنَ لَيْسَ هُوَ زَوْجَكِ. هَذَا قُلْتِ بِالصِّدْقِ". قَالَتْ لَهُ الْمَرْأَةُ: "يَا سَيِّدي، أرَى أنكَ نَبِيٌّ! آبَاؤُنَا سَجَدُوا عَلَى هَذَا الْجَبَلِ، وَأنْتُمْ تَقُولُونَ إنَّ مَوْضِعَ السّجُودِ في أورُشَلِيمَ، الْمَوْضِعَ الَّذِي يَنْبَغِي أنْ يُسْجَدَ فِيهِ". قَالَ لَهَا يَسُوعُ: "يَا امْرَأةُ، صَدِّقِينِي أنهُ تَأتِي سَاعَةٌ، حتَّى أنهُ لا في هذَا الْجَبَلِ، وَلا في أُورُشَلِيمَ يُسْجَدُ للآبِ. أنْتُمْ تَسْجُدُونَ لِلَّذِي لا تَعْرِفُونَهُ. أمَّا نَحْنُ فَنَسْجُدُ لِلَّذِي نَعْرِفُهُ. لأنَّ الْخَلاَصَ هُوَ مِنَ الْيَهُودِ. وَلكِنْ سَتَأتِي سَاعَةٌ، وَهيَ الآنَ، حِينَ السَّاجِدُونَ الْحَقِيقِيُّونَ يَسْجُدُونَ لِلآبِ بِالرُّوحِ وَالْحَقِّ، لأنَّ الآبَ أيْضاً يَطْلُبُ مِثْلَ هؤُلاءِ الَّذِينَ يَسْجُدُونَ لَهُ. اللَّهُ رُوحٌ هُوَ. وَالَّذِينَ يَسْجُدُونَ لَهُ يَجِبُ أنْ يَسْجُدُوا بِالرُّوحِ وَالْحَقِّ". وَالْمَجْدُ لِلَّهِ دَائِماً.

5:8-21

*For you were heretofore darkness, but now light in the Lord. Walk then as children of the light. For the fruit of the light is in all goodness, and justice, and truth; Proving what is well pleasing to God: And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them. For the things that are done by them in secret, it is a shame even to speak of. But all things that are reproved, are made manifest by the light; for all that is made manifest is light. Wherefore he saith: Rise thou that sleepest, and arise from the dead: and Christ shall enlighten thee. See therefore, brethren, how you walk circumspectly: not as unwise, But as wise: redeeming the time, because the days are evil. Wherefore become not unwise, but understanding what is the will of God. And be not drunk with wine, wherein is luxury; but be ye filled with the holy Spirit, Speaking to yourselves in psalms, and hymns, and spiritual canticles, singing and making melody in your hearts to the Lord; Giving thanks always for all things, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, to God and the Father: Being subject one to another, in the fear of Christ. The grace of God the Father be with you all. Amen.

سِيرُوا إذاً كَأَوْلاَدِ النُّورِ؛ لأنَّ ثَمَرَ النُّورِ هُوَ في كُلِّ صَلاَحٍ وَبِرٍّ وَحَقٍّ. مُخْتَبِرِينَ مَا هُوَ مَرْضِيٌّ عِنْدَ الرَّبِّ. وَلاَ تَشْتَرِكُوا في أَعْمَالِ الظُّلْمَةِ غَيْرِ الْمُثْمِرَةِ بَلْ بِالْحَرِيِّ وَبِّخُوهَا؛ لأنَّ الأُمُورَ الَّتي يَفْعَلُونَهَا سِرَّاً، ذِكْرُهَا أيْضاً مِنَ الْعَارِ. وَلكِنَّ كُلَّ مَا يُوَبِّخُهُ النُّورُ يُعْلَنُ؛ لأنَّ كُلَّ مَا أُظْهِرَ فَهُوَ نُورٌ. وَمِنْ أَجْلِ هذَا يَقُول: "قُمْ أيهَا النَّائِمُ وَقُمْ وَاقِفَاً مِنْ بَيْن الأَمْوَاتِ فَيُضِيءَ لَكَ الْمَسِيحُ". فَانْظُرُوا إذاً يَا إخْوَتِي بِالتَّدْقِيقِ كَيْفَ تَسِيرُونَ لا كَجُهَلاءَ بَلْ كَحُكَمَاءَ، مُفْتَدِينَ الْوَقْتَ لأنَّ الأيامَ شِرِّيرَةٌ. مِنْ أَجْلِ هذَا لا تَكُونُوا أَغْبِيَاءَ بَلْ اِفْهَمُوا مَا هِيَ إرَادَةُ الرَّبِّ. وَلا تَسْكَرُوا بِالْخَمْرِ الَّذِي فِيهِ عَدَمِ الصِّحَةِ، بَل كُونُوا كَامِلِينَ بِالرُّوحِ، مُكَلِّمِينَ أَنْفُسَكُمْ بَعْضُكُمْ بَعْضاً بِمَزَامِيرَ وَتَسَابِيحَ وَتَرَاتِيلَ رُوحِيَّةٍ، مُسَبِّحِينَ وَمُرَتِّلِينَ لِلرَّبِّ في قُلُوبِكُمْ. شَاكِرِينَ كُلَّ حِينٍ عَلَى كُلِّ شَيْءٍ في اسْمِ رَبِّنَا يَسُوعَ الْمَسِيحِ، وَاللَّهِ الآبِ. خَاضِعِينَ بَعْضُكُمْ لِبَعْضٍ في خَوْفِ الْمَسِيحِ. نعمةُ اللَّهِ الآبِ فَلْتَحِلَّ عَلَى أرواحِنا يا آبائي وإخْوَتي. آمين.

*For after this manner heretofore the holy women also, who trusted in God, adorned themselves, being in subjection to their own husbands: As Sara obeyed Abraham, calling him lord: whose daughters you are, doing well, and not fearing any disturbance. Ye husbands, likewise dwelling with them according to knowledge, giving honour to the female as to the weaker vessel, and as to the co-heirs of the grace of life: that your prayers be not hindered. And in fine, be ye all of one mind, having compassion one of another, being lovers of the brotherhood, merciful, modest, humble: Not rendering evil for evil, nor railing for railing, but contrariwise, blessing: for unto this are you called, that you may inherit a blessing. For he that will love life, and see good days, let him refrain his tongue from evil, and his lips that they speak no guile. Let him decline from evil, and do good: let him seek after peace and pursue it: Because the eyes of the Lord are upon the just, and his ears unto their prayers: but the countenance of the Lord upon them that do evil things. And who is he that can hurt you, if you be zealous of good? But if also you suffer any thing for justice' sake, blessed are ye. And be not afraid of their fear, and be not troubled. Do not love the world or the things in the world. The world passes away, and its desires; but he who does the will of God abides forever. Amen.

لأنهُ هَكَذَا كَانَتْ قَدِيماً النِّسَاءُ الْقِدِّيسَاتُ الْمُتَوَكِّلاَتُ أيْضاً عَلَى اللَّهِ، يُزَيِّنَّ أَنْفُسَهُنَّ خَاضِعَاتٍ لِرِجَالِهِنَّ، كَمَا كَانَتْ سَارَةُ تُطِيعُ إبْرَاهِيمَ وَتَدْعُوهُ " سَيِّدِي". الَّتي صِرْتُنَّ لَهَا بَنَاتٍ، صَانِعَاتِ الْخَيْرِ، وَغَيْرَ خَائِفَاتٍ خَوْفاً مِنْ أَحَدٍ الْبَتَّةَ. كَذلِكَ أَنْتُمْ أيْضاً أَيهَا الرِّجَالُ، كُونُوا سَاكِنِينَ مَعَهُنَّ عَالِمِينَ أنَّ النِّسَاءَ آنِيَةٌ ضَعِيفَةٌ، مُعْطِينَ إيَّاهُنَّ كَرَامَةً، كَالْوَارِثَاتِ مَعَكُمْ نِعْمَةَ الْحَيَاةِ بِأَيِّ نَوْعٍ، لِكَيْ لا تعَاقَ صَلَوَاتكُمْ. وَالنِّهَايَةُ، كُونُوا جَمِيعَاً بِرَأيٍ وَاحِدٍ، وَكُونُوا مُشْتَرِكِينَ في الآلامِ. وَكُونُوا مُحِبِّينَ الإخْوَةَ، رَحُومِينَ مُتَوَاضِعِينَ، غَيْرَ مُجَازِينَ عَنْ شَرٍّ بِشَرٍّ أَوْ عَنْ شَتِيمَةٍ بِشَتِيمَةٍ، بَلْ بِالْعَكْسِ مُبَارِكِينَ؛ لأنكُمْ لِهَذَا الأَمْرِ دُعِيتُمْ لِكَيْ تَرِثُوا الْبَرَكَةَ. لأنَّ: "مَنْ أَرَادَ أنْ يُحِبَّ الْحَيَاةَ وَيَرَى أَيامَاً صَالِحَةً، فَلْيَكْفُفْ لِسَانَهُ عَنِ الشَّرِّ. وَشَفَتَيْهِ ألاَّ تَتَكَلَّمَا بِالْمَكْرِ، وَلِيَحِدْ عَنِ الشَّرِّ وَيَصْنَعِ الْخَيْرَ، وَلِيَطْلُبِ السَّلاَمَ وَيَجِدَّ في أَثَرِهِ؛ لأنَّ عَيْنِي الرَّبِّ تَنْظُرَانِ الأبْرَارَ، وَأُذْنَيْهِ تَنْصِتَانِ إلى طِلْبَتِهِمْ، وَأمَّا وَجْهُ الرَّبِّ فَضِدُّ فَاعِلِي الشَّرِّ. فَمَنْ ذَا الَّذِي يُمْكِنُهُ أنْ يُؤْذِيَكُمْ إذَا كُنْتُمْ غَيُّورِينَ عَلَى الْخَيْرِ؟ وَلَكِنْ إنْ تَأَلَّمْتُمْ مِنْ أَجْلِ الْبِرِّ، فَطُوبَاكُمْ. وَأَمَّا خَوْفُهُمْ فَلا تَخَافُوهُ وَلا تَضْطَرِبُوا. لا تُحِبُّوا العَالَمَ ولا الأشْيَاءَ التي في العَالَمِ، لأنَّ العَالَمَ يمْضِي وَشَهْوَتُهُ مَعَهُ، وأمَّا مَنْ يَعملُ مَشِيئَةَ اللهِ فإنه يَثْبُتُ إلى الأبدِ. آمين.

*And the days being expired, departing we went forward, they all bringing us on our way, with their wives and children, till we were out of the city: and we kneeled down on the shore, and we prayed. And when we had bid one another farewell, we took ship; and they returned home. But we having finished the voyage by sea, from Tyre came down to Ptolemais: and saluting the brethren, we abode one day with them. And the next day departing, we came to Caesarea. And entering into the house of Philip the evangelist, who was one of the seven, we abode with him. And he had four daughters, virgins, who did prophesy. And as we tarried there for some days, there came from Judea a certain prophet, named Agabus. Who, when he was come to us, took Paul's girdle: and binding his own feet and hands, he said: Thus saith the Holy Ghost: The man whose girdle this is, the Jews shall bind in this manner in Jerusalem, and shall deliver him into the hands of the Gentiles. Which when we had heard, both we and they that were of that place, desired him that he would not go up to Jerusalem. Then Paul answered, and said: What do you mean weeping and afflicting my heart? For I am ready not only to be bound, but to die also in Jerusalem, for the name of the Lord Jesus. And when we could not persuade him, we ceased, saying: The will of the Lord be done. The word of the Lord shall grow, multiply, be mighty, and be confirmed, in the holy Church of God. Amen.

وَلكِنْ حَدَثَ لَمَّا اسْتَكْمَلْنَا الأيامَ خَرَجْنَا وَمَشَيْنَا، وَهُمْ يُشَيِّعُونَنَا، مَعَ نِسَاءٍ أيْضاً وَأَوْلادِهِمْ إلى خَارِجِ الْمَدِينَةِ. فَجَثَوْنَا عَلَى رُكَبِنَا عَلَى الشَّاطِئِ وَصَلَّيْنَا. وَلَمَّا وَدَّعْنَا بَعْضُنَا بَعْضاً رَكِبْنَا السَّفِينَةَ. وَأمَّا أُولَئكَ فَرَجَعُوا إلى خَاصَّتِهِمْ. وَأمَّا نَحْنُ فَأَقْلَعْنَا مِنْ صُورَ، وَأَقْبَلْنَا إلى بُتُولِمَايِسَ (عَكَا)، فَسَلَّمْنَا عَلَى الإخْوَةِ وَأَقَمْنَا عِنْدَهُمْ يَوْماً وَاحِداً. ثُمَّ خَرَجْنَا في الْغَدِ وَجِئْنَا إلى قَيْصَرِيَّةَ، فَدَخَلْنَا بَيْتَ فِيلِبُّسَ الْمُبَشِّرِ، إذْ كَانَ وَاحِداً مِنَ السَّبْعَةِ وَأَقَمْنَا عِنْدَهُ. وَكَانَ لِهذَا أَرْبَعُ بَنَاتٍ عَذارَى كُنَّ يَتَنَبَّأْنَ. وَبَيْنَمَا نَحْنُ مُقِيمُونَ هُنَاكَ أيامَاً كَثِيرَةً، جَاءَ وَاحِدٌ مِنَ الْيَهُودِيَّةِ نَبِيٌّ اسْمُهُ أَغَابُوسُ. فَجَاءَ إلَيْنَا، وَأَخَذَ مِنْطَقَةَ بُولُسَ، وَرَبَطَ يَدَيْ نَفْسِهِ وَرِجْلَيْهِ وَقَالَ: "هَذَا مَا يَقُولهُ الرُّوحُ الْقُدُسُ: إنَّ الرَّجُلَ الَّذِي لَهُ هَذِهِ الْمِنْطَقَةُ، سَيَرْبُطُهُ الْيَهُودُ هكَذَا في أُورُشَلِيمَ وَيُسَلِّمُونَهُ إلى أَيْدِي الأُمَمِ". فَلَمَّا سَمِعْنَا هَذَا، طَلَبْنَا إلَيْهِ نَحْنُ وَالإخْوَةُ الَّذِينَ في ذلِكَ الْمَكَانِ أنْ لا يَصْعَدَ إلى أُورُشَلِيمَ. حِينَئِذٍ أَجَابَ بُولُسُ وَقَالَ: "مَاذَا تَفْعَلُونَ؟ تَبْكُونَ وَتُحْزِنُونَ قَلْبِي؛ لأني مُسْتَعِدٌّ لَيْسَ أنْ أُرْبَطَ فَقَطْ، بَلْ أنْ أَمُوتَ في أُورُشَلِيمَ لأَجْلِ اسْمِ الرَّبِّ يَسُوعَ". وَلَمَّا لَمْ يُقْنَعْ سَكَتْنَا قَائِلِينَ: "لِتَكُنْ إرَادَةُ الرَّبِّ". لَمْ تَزَلْ كَلِمَةُ الرَّبِّ تَنْمُو وتَكْثُرُ وتَعْتَزُّ وتَثْبُتُ، في بِيعَةِ اللَّهِ الْمُقَدَّسَةِ. آمين.

*Virgins shall be brought to the king after her: her fellows shall be brought to thee. They shall be brought with gladness and exultation: they shall be led into the king’s temple. Alleluia.

يُدْخِلْنَ للْمَلِكِ عَذَارَى في إثْرِهَا. جَمِيعُ صَاحِبَاتِهَا لَهُ يُقَدَّمْنَ. يُدْخِلْنَهُنَّ بِفَرَحٍ وَابْتِهَاجٍ، يُدْخِلْنَهُنَّ إلى هَيْكَلِ الْمَلِكِ. هَلِّلُويَا.

*Then shall the kingdom of heaven be like to ten virgins, who taking their lamps went out to meet the bridegroom and the bride. And five of them were foolish, and five wise. But the five foolish, having taken their lamps, did not take oil with them: But the wise took oil in their vessels with the lamps. And the bridegroom tarrying, they all slumbered and slept. And at midnight there was a cry made: Behold the bridegroom cometh, go ye forth to meet him. Then all those virgins arose and trimmed their lamps. And the foolish said to the wise: Give us of your oil, for our lamps are gone out. The wise answered, saying: Lest perhaps there be not enough for us and for you, go ye rather to them that sell, and buy for yourselves. Now whilst they went to buy, the bridegroom came: and they that were ready, went in with him to the marriage, and the door was shut. But at last come also the other virgins, saying: Lord, Lord, open to us. But he answering said: Amen I say to you, I know you not. Watch ye therefore, because you know not the day nor the hour. Glory be to God forever.

حِينَئِذٍ يُشْبِهُ مَلَكُوتُ السَّمَوَاتِ عَشْرَ عَذَارَى، أَخَذْنَ مَصَابِيحَهُنَّ وَخَرَجْنَ لِلِقَاءِ الْعَرِيسِ. وَكَانَ خَمْسٌ مِنْهُنَّ جَاهِلاَتٍ، وَخَمْسٌ حَكِيمَاتٍ. أَمَّا الْجَاهِلاَتُ فَأَخَذْنَ مَصَابِيحَهُنَّ وَلَمْ يَأْخُذْنَ مَعَهُنَّ زَيْتاً، وَأَمَّا الْحَكِيمَاتُ فَأَخَذْنَ زَيْتاً في آنِيَتِهِنَّ مَعَ مَصَابِيحِهِنَّ. وَإذْ أَبْطَأَ الْعَرِيسُ نَعَسْنَ جَمِيعُهُنَّ وَنِمْنَ. فَفِي مُنْتَصَفِ اللَّيْلِ صَارَ صُرَاخٌ: هُوَذَا الْعَرِيسُ قَدْ أَقْبَلَ، فَقُمْنَ وَاخْرُجْنَ لِلِقَائِهِ! حِينَئِذٍ قَامَتْ جَمِيعُ أُولئِكَ الْعَذَارَى وَزَيَّنَّ مَصَابِيحَهُنَّ. فَقَالَتِ الْجَاهِلاَتُ لِلْحَكِيمَاتِ: أَعْطِينَنَا مِنْ زَيْتِكُنَّ فَإنَّ مَصَابِيحَنَا تَنْطَفِئُ. فَأَجَابَتِ الْحَكِيمَاتُ قَائِلاَتٍ: لَعَلَّهُ لا يَكْفِي لَنَا وَلَكُنَّ، فَالأَحْرَى أنْ تَذْهَبْنَ إلى الْبَاعَةِ وَابْتَعْنَ لَكُنَّ. فَلَمَّا ذَهَبْنَ لِيَبْتَعْنَ جَاءَ الْعَرِيسُ، وَالْمُسْتَعِدَّاتُ دَخَلْنَ مَعَهُ إلى الْعُرْسِ، وَأُغْلِقَ الْبَابُ. وَأَخِيراً جَاءَتْ بَقِيَّةُ الْعَذَارَى قَائِلاَتٍ: رَبَّنَا، رَبَّنَا، افْتَحْ لَنَا. فَأَجَابَ وَقَالَ: الْحَقَّ أَقُولُ لَكُنَّ: إنِّي لا أَعْرِفُكُنَّ. فَاسْهَرُوا إذاً لأَنكُمْ لا تَعْرِفُونَ الْيَوْمَ وَلا السَّاعَةَ. وَالْمَجْدُ لِلَّهِ دَائِماً.
