And when I was afflicted I called upon the Lord, and cried to my God: he heard my voice out of this holy temple, and my cry shall enter before him, even into his ears. Alleluia.

ظَهَرَتْ عُيُونُ الْمِيَاهِ، وَانْكَشَفَتْ أَسَاسَاتُ الْمَسْكُونَةِ. دَعَوْتُ الرَّبَّ وَإلى إلهِي صَرَخْتُ، فَسَمِعَ صَوْتي. هَلِّلُويَا.

*And when he was alone, the twelve that were with him asked him the parable. And he said to them: To you it is given to know the mystery of the kingdom of God: but to them that are without, all things are done in parables: That seeing they may see, and not perceive; and hearing they may hear, and not understand: lest at any time they should be converted, and their sins should be forgiven them. And he saith to them: Are you ignorant of this parable? and how shall you know all parables? He that soweth, soweth the word. And these are they by the way side, where the word is sown, and as soon as they have heard, immediately Satan cometh and taketh away the word that was sown in their hearts. And these likewise are they that are sown on the stony ground: who when they have heard the word, immediately receive it with joy. And they have no root in themselves, but are only for a time: and then when tribulation and persecution ariseth for the word they are presently scandalized. And others there are who are sown among thorns: these are they that hear the word, And the cares of the world, and the deceitfulness of riches, and the lusts after other things entering in choke the word, and it is made fruitless. And these are they who are sown upon the good ground, who hear the word, and receive it, and yield fruit, the one thirty, another sixty, and another a hundred. Glory be to God forever.

وَلَمَّا كَانَ وَحْدَهُ، سَأَلَهُ الَّذِينَ حَوْلَهُ مَعَ الاثْنَيْ عَشَرَ عَنِ الأَمْثَالِ، فَقَالَ لَهُمْ: "أَنْتُمْ قَدْ أُعْطِيَ لَكُمْ أَنْ تَعْلَمُوا أَسْرَارَ مَلَكُوتِ اللَّهِ، وَأمَّا الَّذِينَ هُمْ مِنْ خَارِجٍ فَبِالأَمْثَالِ يَكُونُ لَهُمْ كُلُّ شَيْءٍ، لِكَيْ يَنْظُرُوا نَظْراً ولا يُبْصِرُوا، وَيَسْمَعُوا سَمْعاً وَلا يَفْهَمُوا، لِئَلاَّ يَرْجِعُوا فَيُغْفَرَ لَهُمْ". ثُمَّ قَالَ لَهُمْ: "أَمَا تَعْلَمُونَ هَذَا الْمَثَلَ؟ فَكَيْفَ تَعْرِفُونَ جَمِيعَ الأَمْثَالِ؟ الزَّارِعُ قَدْ زَرَعَ الْكَلِمَةَ. وَهَؤُلاَءِ هُمُ الَّذِينَ عَلَى الطَّرِيقِ: حَيْثُ زُرِعَتِ الْكَلِمَةُ، وَإذَا سَمِعُوا يَأْتِي الشَّيْطَانُ لِلْوَقْتِ وَيَنْزِعُ الْكَلِمَةَ الَّتي زُرِعَتْ في قَلْبِهِمْ. وهَكَذَا أيْضاً الَّذِينَ زُرِعُوا عَلَى الأَمَاكِنِ الْمُحْجِرَةِ: الَّذِينَ مَتَى سَمِعُوا الْكَلِمَةَ يَقْبَلُونَهَا بِفَرَحٍ، وَلَيْسَ أَصْلٌ فِيهِمْ، بَلْ هُمْ إلى حِينٍ. فَبَعْدَ ذلِكَ إذَا حَدَثَ ضِيقٌ أَوِ اضْطِهَادٌ مِنْ أَجْلِ الْكَلِمَةِ، فَلِلْوَقْتِ يَعْثُرُونَ. وَغَيْرُهُمْ الَّذِينَ زُرِعُوا بَيْنَ الشَّوْكِ: هَؤُلاَءِ هُمُ الَّذِينَ يَسْمَعُونَ الْكَلِمَةَ، وَهُمُومُ هَذَا الدَّهْرِ وَغُرُورُ الْغِنَى وَشَهَوَاتُ سَائِرِ الأَشْيَاءِ تَدْخُلُ وَتَخْنُقُ الْكَلِمَةَ فَتَصِيرُ بِلاَ ثَمَرٍ. وَالَّذِينَ زُرِعُوا عَلَى الأَرْضِ الْجَيِّدَةِ: هُمُ الَّذِينَ يَسْمَعُونَ الْكَلِمَةَ وَيَقْبَلُونَهَا، وَيُثْمِرُونَ: وَاحِدٌ ثَلاَثِينَ وَآخَرُ سِتِّينَ وَآخَرُ مِئَةً". وَالْمَجْدُ لِلَّهِ دَائِماً.

تَعَهَّدْتَ الأَرْضَ وَرَوَيْتهَا، وَأَكْثَرْتهَا بِغِنىً، وَامْتَلأَ نَهْرُ اللهِ مِيَاهَاً، هَيَّأَتَ طَعَامَهُمْ لأَنَّ هَذَا هُوَ اسْتِعْدَادُهُمْ. هَلِّلُويَا.

For an angel of the Lord descended from heaven, and coming, rolled back the stone, and sat upon it. And his countenance was as lightning, and his raiment as snow. And for fear of him, the guards were struck with terror, and became as dead men. And the angel answering, said to the women: Fear not you; for I know that you seek Jesus who was crucified. He is not here, for he is risen, as he said. Come, and see the place where the Lord was laid. And going quickly, tell ye his disciples that he is risen: and behold he will go before you into Galilee; there you shall see him. Lo, I have foretold it to you. And they went out quickly from the sepulchre with fear and great joy, running to tell his disciples. And behold Jesus met them, saying: All hail. But they came up and took hold of his feet, and adored him. Then Jesus said to them: Fear not. Go, tell my brethren that they go into Galilee, there they shall see me. Who when they were departed, behold some of the guards came into the city, and told the chief priests all things that had been done. And they being assembled together with the ancients, taking counsel, gave a great sum of money to the soldiers, Saying: Say you, His disciples came by night, and stole him away when we were asleep. And if the governor shall hear this, we will persuade him, and secure you. So they taking the money, did as they were taught: and this word was spread abroad among the Jews even unto this day. And the eleven disciples went into Galilee, unto the mountain where Jesus had appointed them. And seeing him they adored: but some doubted. And Jesus coming, spoke to them, saying: All power is given to me in heaven and in earth. Going therefore, teach ye all nations; baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost. Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and behold I am with you all days, even to the consummation of the world. Glory be to God forever.

وَبَعْدَ السَّبْتِ، عِنْدَ فَجْرِ الأَحَدِ (أوَّلِ الأُسْبُوعِ) جَاءَتْ مَرْيَمُ الْمَجْدَلِيَّةُ وَمَرْيَمُ الأُخْرَى لِتَنْظُرَا الْقَبْرَ. وَإذَا زَلْزَلَةٌ عَظِيمَةٌ قَدْ حَدَثَتْ، لأَنَّ مَلاَكَ الرَّبِّ نَزَلَ مِنَ السَّمَاءِ وَدَحْرَجَ الْحَجَرَ عَنْ بَابِ الْقَبْرِ، وَجَلَسَ عَلَيْهِ. وَكَانَ مَنْظَرُهُ كَالْبَرْقِ، وَلِبَاسُهُ أَبْيَضَ كَالثَّلْجِ. وَمِنْ رَهْبَتِهِ اضْطَرَبَ الْحُرَّاسُ وَصَارُوا كَأَمْوَاتٍ. فَأَجَابَ الْمَلاَكُ وَقَالَ لِلْمَرْأَتَيْنِ: "لا تَخَافَا أَنْتُمَا، فَإنِّي أَعْلَمُ أنكُمَا تَطْلُبَانِ يَسُوعَ الَّذِي صُلِبَ. لَيْسَ هُوَ هَهُنَا، بَلْ قَدْ قَامَ كَمَا قَالَ. تَعَالَيَا انْظُرَا الْمَوْضِعَ الَّذِي كَانَ مَوْضُوعاً فِيهِ. وَاذْهَبَا سَرِيعاً قُولاَ لِتَلاَمِيذِهِ: إنَّهُ قَدْ قَامَ مِنْ بَيْنِ الأَمْوَاتِ. وَهَا هُوَ يَسْبِقُكُمْ إلى الْجَلِيلِ. هُنَاكَ تَرَوْنَهُ. هَا أَنا قَدْ قُلْتُ لَكُمَا". فَخَرَجَتَا سَرِيعاً مِنَ الْقَبْرِ بِخَوْفٍ وَفَرَحٍ عَظِيمٍ، مُسْرَعَتَيْنِ لِتُخْبِرَا تَلاَمِيذَهُ. وَإذَا يَسُوعُ لاقَاهُمَا قَائِلاً: "سَلاَمٌ لَكُمَا". أمَّا هُمَا فَأَمْسَكَتَا بِقَدَمَيْهِ وَسَجَدَتَا لَهُ. حِينَئِذٍ قَالَ لَهُمَا يَسُوعُ: "لا تَخَافَا. اِذْهَبَا أعْلِمَا إخْوَتي أنْ يَذْهَبُوا إلى الْجَلِيلِ، وَهُنَاكَ يَرَوْنَنِي". وَفِيمَا هُمَا ذَاهِبَتَانِ إذَا قَوْمٌ مِنَ الْحُرَّاسِ جَاءُوا إلى الْمَدِينَةِ وَأَخْبَرُوا رُؤَسَاءَ الْكَهَنَةِ بِكُلِّ مَا كَانَ. فَاجْتَمَعُوا مَعَ الشُّيُوخِ، وَتَشَاوَرُوا، وَأَخَذُوا فِضَّةً ذَاتَ قِيمَةٍ وَأَعْطَوْهَا لِلْجُنْدِ قَائِلِينَ: "قُولُوا‎ إنَّ تَلاَمِيذَهُ أَتوْا لَيْلاً وَسَرَقُوهُ وَنَحْنُ نِيَامٌ. وَإذَا سَمِعَ الْوَاليْ هَذَا الْقَوْلَ نُقْنِعُهُ نَحْنُ، وَنُصَيِّرُكُمْ بِلاَ هَمٍّ". أَمَّا هُمْ فَأَخَذُوا الْفِضَّةَ‎ وَفَعَلُوا كَمَا عَلَّمُوهُمْ، فَشَاعَ هَذَا الْقَوْلُ عِنْدَ الْيَهُودِ إلى هَذَا الْيَوْمِ. وَأَمَّا الأَحَدَ عَشَرَ تِلْمِيذاً فَمَضَوْا إلى الْجَلِيلِ إلى الْجَبَلِ، الَّذِي وَعَدَهُمْ بِهِ يَسُوعُ. وَلَمَّا رَأَوْهُ سَجَدُوا لَهُ، وَلكِنَّ بَعْضَهُمْ شَكَّ. فَتَقَدَّمَ يَسُوعُ وَخَاطَبَهُمْ قَائِلاً: "إنِّي قَدْ أُعْطِيتُ كُلَّ سُلْطَانٍ في السَّماءِ وَعَلَى الأَرْضِ، فَامْضُوا الآنَ وَعَلِّمُوا جَمِيعَ الأُمَمِ وَعَمِّدُوهُمْ بِاسْمِ الآبِ وَالابْنِ وَالرُّوحِ الْقُدُسِ. وَعَلِّمُوهُمْ أنْ يَحْفَظُوا جَمِيعَ الأُمُورِ الَّتي أَوْصَيْتُكُمْ بِهَا. وَهَا أَنا مَعَكُمْ كُلَّ الأيامِ إلى انْقِضَاءِ الدُّهورِ". آمِينَ. وَالْمَجْدُ لِلَّهِ دَائِماً.

*For concerning the ministry that is done towards the saints, it is superfluous for me to write unto you. For I know your forward mind: for which I boast of you to the Macedonians. That Achaia also is ready from the year past, and your emulation hath provoked very many. Now I have sent the brethren, that the thing which we boast of concerning you, be not made void in this behalf, that (as I have said) you may be ready: Lest, when the Macedonians shall come with me, and find you unprepared, we (not to say ye) should be ashamed in this matter. Therefore I thought it necessary to desire the brethren that they would go to you before, and prepare this blessing before promised, to be ready, so as a blessing, not as covetousness. Now this I say: He who soweth sparingly, shall also reap sparingly: and he who soweth in blessings, shall also reap blessings. Every one as he hath determined in his heart, not with sadness, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver. And God is able to make all grace abound in you; that ye always, having all sufficiency in all things, may abound to every good work, As it is written: He hath dispersed abroad, he hath given to the poor: his justice remaineth for ever. The grace of God the Father be with you all. Amen.

فَإنَّهُ مِنْ جِهَةِ الْخِدْمَةِ الَّتي تُصْنَعُ لِلْقِدِّيسِينَ، فَهُوَ فُضُولٌ مِنِّي، أَنْ أَكْتُبَ إلَيْكُمْ عَنْهَا. لأني أَعْرِفُ نَشَاطَكُم الَّذِي أَفْتَخِرُ بِهِ مِنْ جِهَتِكُمْ لَدَى الْمَكِدُونِيِّينَ، أَنَّ أَهْلَ أَخَائِيَةَ مُسْتَعِدُّونَ مُنْذُ الْعَامِ الْمَاضِي. وَغَيْرَتُكُمْ قَدْ حَرَّضَتِ الأَكْثَرِينَ. وَلكِنْ قَدْ أَرْسَلْنَا الإخْوَةَ إلَيْكُمْ لِكَيْ لا يَكُونَ فَخْرُنَا الَّذِي افْتَخَرْنَاهُ بِكُمْ بَاطِلاً مِنْ هَذَا الْقَبِيلِ، كَيْ تَكُونُوا مُسْتَعِدِّينَ كَمَا قُلْتُ. حَتَّى إذَا جَاءَ مَعِي مَكِدُونِيُّونَ وَوَجَدُوكُمْ غَيْرَ مُسْتَعِدِّينَ، لاَ نَخْجَلُ نَحْنُ، كَيْ لاَ نَقُولَ: إنَّكُمْ أَنْتُمْ بِهَذَا الْمقدَارِ. فَرَأَيْتُ لِزَاِماً أَنْ أُقْنِعَ الإخْوَةَ أَنْ يَسْبِقُوا إِلَيْكُمْ، وَيُهَيِّئُوا قَبْلاً بَرَكَتَكُمُ الَّتي وَعَدْتُمْ بِهَا مِنَ الأَوَّلِ، لِتَكُونَ هِيَ مُعَدَّةً هَكَذَا كَأَنهَا بَرَكَةٌ، لاَ كَأَنهَا اغْتِصَابٌ. هَذَا وَإنَّ مَنْ يَزْرَعُ بِالشُّحِّ فَبِالشُّحِّ أيْضاً يَحْصُدُ، وَمَنْ يَزْرَعُ بِالْبَرَكَةِ فَبِالْبَرَكَةِ أيْضاً يَحْصُدُ. كُلُّ وَاحِدٍ كَمَا يَنْوِي بِقَلْبِهِ، لَيْسَ عَنْ حُزْنٍ أَوْ اضْطِرَارٍ؛ لأَنَّ الْمُعْطِيَ الْمَسْرُورَ يُحِبُّهُ اللَّهُ. وَاللَّهُ قَادِرٌ أَنْ يَزِيدَكُمْ كُلَّ نِعْمَةٍ، كَيْ يَكُونَ لَكُمْ اكْتِفَاءٌ في كُلِّ شَيْءٍ كُلَّ حِينٍ، لِتَزْدَادُوا في كُلِّ عَمَلٍ صَالِحٍ. كَمَا هُوَ مَكْتُوبٌ: "فَرَّقَ. أَعْطَى الْمَسَاكِينَ. بِرُّهُ يَبْقَى إِلى الأَبدِ". نعمةُ اللَّهِ الآبِ فَلْتَحِلَّ عَلَى أرواحِنا يا آبائي وإخْوَتي. آمين.

3:1-12

*Be ye not many masters, my brethren, knowing that you receive the greater judgment. For in many things we all offend. If any man offend not in word, the same is a perfect man. He is able also with a bridle to lead about the whole body. For if we put bits into the mouths of horses, that they may obey us, and we turn about their whole body. Behold also ships, whereas they are great, and are driven by strong winds, yet are they turned about with a small helm, whithersoever the force of the governor willeth. Even so the tongue is indeed a little member, and boasteth great things. Behold how small a fire kindleth a great wood. And the tongue is a fire, a world of iniquity. The tongue is placed among our members, which defileth the whole body, and inflameth the wheel of our nativity, being set on fire by hell. For every nature of beasts, and of birds, and of serpents, and of the rest, is tamed, and hath been tamed, by the nature of man: But the tongue no man can tame, an unquiet evil, full of deadly poison. By it we bless God and the Father: and by it we curse men, who are made after the likeness of God. Out of the same mouth proceedeth blessing and cursing. My brethren, these things ought not so to be. Doth a fountain send forth, out of the same hole, sweet and bitter water? Can the fig tree, my brethren, bear grapes; or the vine, figs? So neither can the salt water yield sweet. Do not love the world or the things in the world. The world passes away, and its desires; but he who does the will of God abides forever. Amen.

لاَ تَكُونُوا مُعَلِّمِينَ كَثِيرِينَ يَا إخْوَتِي، عَالِمِينَ أَنكُمْ تَأْخُذُونَ دَيْنُونَةً أَعْظَمَ! لأَننا في أَشْيَاءَ كَثِيرَةٍ نَعْثُرُ جَمِيعُنَا. إنْ كَانَ أَحَدٌ لا يَعْثُرُ في الْكَلاَمِ فَذَاكَ رَجُلٌ كَامِلٌ، قَادِرٌ أَنْ يُلْجِمَ كُلَّ الْجَسَدِ أيْضاً. هُوَذَا الْخَيْلُ، نَضَعُ اللُّجُمَ في أَفْوَاهِهَا لِكَيْ تُطَاوِعَنَا، فَنُدِيرَ جِسْمَهَا كُلَّهُ. هُوَذَا السُّفُنُ أَيْضاً، وَهِيَ عَظِيمَةٌ بِهَذَا الْمِقْدَارِ، وَتَسُوقُهَا رِيَاحٌ عَاصِفَةٌ، تُدِيرُهَا دَفَّةٌ صَغِيرةٌ جِدّاً إلى حَيْثُمَا شَاءَ قَصْدُ الْمُدِيرِ. هَكَذَا اللِّسَانُ، هُوَ عُضوٌ صَغِيرٌ وَيَتَكَلَّمُ بِالْعَظَائِمِ. هُوَذَا نَارٌ قَلِيلَةٌ، أَيَّ وُقُودٍ تُحْرِقُ؟ فَاللِّسَانُ نَارٌ! عَالَمُ الإثْمِ. هكَذَا جُعِلَ في أَعْضَائِنَا اللِّسَانُ، الَّذِي يُدَنِّسُ الْجَسَدَ كُلَّهُ، وَيُحْرِقُ دَائِرَةَ الْكَوْنِ، وَيُضْرَمُ مِنْ جَهَنَّمَ. لأَنَّ كُلَّ طَبْعٍ للْوُحُوشِ وَالطُّيُورِ وَالْهَوَامِ وَالَّتي في الْبِحَارِ تُذَلَّلُ، وَقَدْ تَذَلَّلَ لِلطَّبِيعَةِ الْبَشَرِيَّةِ. وَأَمَّا اللِّسَانُ، فَلاَ يَسْتَطِيعُ أَحَدٌ مِنَ النَّاسِ أَنْ يُذَلِّلَهُ. هُوَ شَرٌّ لاَ يُضْبَطُ، مَمْلُوءٌ سُمَّ الْمَوْتِ. بِهِ نُبَارِكُ اللَّهَ الآبَ، وَبِهِ نَلْعَنُ النَّاسَ الَّذِينَ خَلَقَهُمُ اللَّهُ عَلَى شَبَهِهِ. مِنَ الْفَمِ الْوَاحِدِ تَخْرُجُ الْبَرَكَةُ وَاللَّعْنَةُ! لاَ يَجِبُ يَا إخْوَتِي أَنْ تَكُونَ هَذِهِ الأُمُورُ هَكَذَا! أَلَعَلَّ الْيَنْبُوعَ يُنْبِعُ مِنَ العَيْنِ الوَاحِدَةِ نَفْسِهَا الْعَذْبَ وَالْمُرَّ؟ هَلْ تَقْدِرُ يَا إخْوَتِي تِينَةٌ أَنْ تَصْنَعَ زَيْتُوناً، أَوْ كَرْمَةٌ تِيناً؟ فَكَذلِكَ لا يُمْكِنُ الْمَالِحُ أَنْ يَصِيرَ مَاءً عَذْباً!. لا تُحِبُّوا العَالَمَ ولا الأشْيَاءَ التي في العَالَمِ، لأنَّ العَالَمَ يمْضِي وَشَهْوَتُهُ مَعَهُ، وأمَّا مَنْ يَعملُ مَشِيئَةَ اللهِ فإنه يَثْبُتُ إلى الأبدِ. آمين.

*You know the word which hath been published through all Judea: for it began from Galilee, after the baptism which John preached, Jesus of Nazareth: how God anointed him with the Holy Ghost, and with power, who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed by the devil, for God was with him. And we are witnesses of all things that he did in the land of the Jews and in Jerusalem, whom they killed, hanging him upon a tree. Him God raised up the third day, and gave him to be made manifest, Not to all the people, but to witnesses preordained by God, even to us, who did eat and drink with him after he arose again from the dead; And he commanded us to preach to the people, and to testify that it is he who was appointed by God, to be judge of the living and of the dead. To him all the prophets give testimony, that by his name all receive remission of sins, who believe in him. While Peter was yet speaking these words, the Holy Ghost fell on all them that heard the word. And the faithful of the circumcision, who came with Peter, were astonished, for that the grace of the Holy Ghost was poured out upon the Gentiles also. For they heard them speaking with tongues, and magnifying God. Then Peter answered: Can any man forbid water, that these should not be baptized, who have received the Holy Ghost, as well as we? And he commanded them to be baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ. Then they desired him to tarry with them some days. Peter defends his having received the Gentiles into the church. And the apostles and brethren, who were in Judea, heard that the Gentiles also had received the word of God. The word of the Lord shall grow, multiply, be mighty, and be confirmed, in the holy Church of God. Amen.

أنْتُمْ تَعْرِفُونَ القَوْلَ الَّذِي كَانَ في كُلِّ اليَهُودِيَّةِ مُبْتَدِئَاً مِنَ الْجَلِيلِ، بَعْدَ الْمَعْمُودِيَّةِ الَّتي كَرَزَ بِهَا يُوحَنَّا. يَسُوعُ النَّاصِرِيُّ الَّذِي مَسَحَهُ اللَّهُ بِالرُّوحِ القُدُسِ وَالقُوَّةِ، هَذَا الَّذِي جَاءَ يَصْنَعُ الْخَيْرَ وَيَشْفِي كُلَّ الَّذِينَ قُهِرُوا مِنْ إِبْلِيسَ؛ لأنَّ اللَّهَ كَانَ مَعَهُ. وَنَحْنُ شُهُودٌ لِكُلِّ شَيءٍ صَنَعَهُ في كُورَةِ اليَهُودِيَّةِ وَفي أُورُشَلِيمَ. هَذَا الَّذِي قَتَلُوهُ وصَلَبُوهُ عَلَى خَشَبَةٍ. هَذَا أقَامَهُ اللَّهُ في اليَوْمِ الثَّالِثِ، وَأعْطَاهُ أنْ يَظْهَرَ لَيْسَ لِجَمِيعِ الشَّعْبِ، بَلْ لِلشُهُودِ الَّذِينَ سَبَقَ اللَّهُ فَاخْتَارَهُمْ. الَّذِينَ هُمْ نَحْنُ الَّذِينَ أَكَلْنَا وَشَرِبْنَا مَعَهُ مِنْ بَعْدِ قِيامَتِهِ مِنْ بَيْنِ الأَمْوَاتِ. وَأمَرَنا أنْ نَكْرِزَ لِلشَّعْبِ، وَنَشْهَدَ بِأنَّ هَذَا هُوَ الْمُعَيَّنُ مِنَ اللَّهِ دَيَّانَاً لِلأَحْيَاءِ وَالأمْوَاتِ. وَهَذَا الَّذِي شَهِدَ لَهُ جَمِيعُ الأنبِياءِ أنَّ كُلَّ مَنْ يُؤْمِنُ بِهِ يَنَالُ بِاسْمِهِ غُفْرَانَ الْخَطَايَا". فَبَيْنَمَا بُطْرُسُ يَتَكَلَّمُ بِهَذِهِ الأَقْوَالِ حَلَّ الرُّوحُ الْقُدُسُ عَلَى جَمِيعِ الَّذِينَ كَانُوا يَسْمَعُونَ الْكَلِمَةَ. فَانْدَهَشَ الْمُؤْمِنُونَ الَّذِينَ مِنْ أَهْلِ الْخِتَانِ، الَّذِينَ جَاءُوا مَعَ بُطْرُسَ، لأنَّ مَوْهِبَةَ الرُّوحِ الْقُدُسِ قَدِ انْسَكَبَتْ عَلَى الأُمَمِ أيْضاً. لأَنهُمْ كَانُوا يَسْمَعُونَهُمْ يَتَكَلَّمُونَ بِأَلْسِنَةٍ وَيُعَظِّمُونَ اللَّهَ. حِينَئِذٍ أَجَابَ بُطْرُسُ قَائِلاً: "أَترَى يَسْتَطِيعُ أَحَدٌ أَنْ يَمْنَعَ الْمَاءَ حَتَّى لا يَعْتَمِدَ هَؤُلاَءِ الَّذِينَ قَبِلُوا الرُّوحَ الْقُدُسَ كَمَا نَحْنُ أيْضاً؟"، وَأَمَرَ أَنْ يَعْتَمِدُوا بِاسْمِ يَسُوعَ الْمَسِيحِ. حِينَئِذٍ سَأَلُوهُ أَنْ يَمْكُثَ أَياماً عِنْدَهُمْ. فَسَمِعَ الرُّسُلُ وَالإخْوَةُ الَّذِينَ كَانُوا في الْيَهُودِيَّةِ أَنَّ الأُمَمَ أيْضاً قَبِلُوا كَلِمَةَ اللَّهِ. لَمْ تَزَلْ كَلِمَةُ الرَّبِّ تَنْمُو وتَكْثُرُ وتَعْتَزُّ وتَثْبُتُ، في بِيعَةِ اللَّهِ الْمُقَدَّسَةِ. آمين.

لِيُروَ حَرْثُهَا وَلْتَكْثُرْ أَثْمَارُهَا. وَتَفْرَحُ بِقَطَرَاتِهَا فَتُنْبتُ. تبَارِكُ إكْلِيلَ السَّنَةِ بِصَلاَحِكَ. وَبِقَاعُكَ تَمْتَلِئُ مِنَ الدَّسَمِ. هَلِّلُويَا.

*And when a very great multitude was gathered together, and hastened out of the cities unto him, he spoke by a similitude. The sower went out to sow his seed. And as he sowed, some fell by the way side, and it was trodden down, and the fowls of the air devoured it. And other some fell upon a rock: and as soon as it was sprung up, it withered away, because it had no moisture. And other some fell among thorns, and the thorns growing up with it, choked it. And other some fell upon good ground; and being sprung up, yielded fruit a hundredfold. Saying these things, he cried out: He that hath ears to hear, let him hear. And his disciples asked him what this parable might be. To whom he said: To you it is given to know the mystery of the kingdom of God; but to the rest in parables, that seeing they may not see, and hearing may not understand. Now the parable is this: The seed is the word of God. And they by the way side are they that hear; then the devil cometh, and taketh the word out of their heart, lest believing they should be saved. Now they upon the rock, are they who when they hear, receive the word with joy: and these have no roots; for they believe for a while, and in time of temptation, they fall away. And that which fell among thorns, are they who have heard, and going their way, are choked with the cares and riches and pleasures of this life, and yield no fruit. But that on the good ground, are they who in a good and perfect heart, hearing the word, keep it, and bring forth fruit in patience. Glory be to God forever.

فَلَمَّا اجْتَمَعَ جَمْعٌ كَثِيرٌ أيْضاً مِنَ الَّذِينَ جَاءُوا إلَيْهِ مِنْ كُلِّ مَدِينَةٍ، قَالَ بِمَثَلٍ: "خَرَجَ الزَّارِعُ لِيَزْرَعَ زَرْعَهُ. وَفِيمَا هُوَ يَزْرَعُ سَقَطَ بَعْضٌ عَلَى الطَّرِيقِ، فَانْدَاسَ وَأَكَلَتْهُ طُيُورُ السَّمَاءِ. وَسَقَطَ آخَرُ عَلَى صَخْرٍ، فَلَمَّا نَبَتَ جَفَّ لأنهُ لَمْ تَكُنْ لَهُ رُطُوبَةٌ. وَسَقَطَ آخَرُ في وَسَطِ الشَّوْكِ، فَنَبَتَ مَعَهُ الشَّوْكُ وَخَنَقَهُ. وَسَقَطَ آخَرُ عَلَى الأَرْضِ الْجَيِّدَةِ، فَلَمَّا نَبَتَ صَنَعَ ثَمراً مِئَةَ ضِعْفٍ". قَالَ هَذَا وَنَادَى: "مَنْ لَهُ أُذْنانِ لِلسَّمْعِ فَلْيَسْمَعْ!". وَكَانَ تَلاَمِيذُهُ يَسْأَلُونَهُ: "مَا هَذَا الْمَثَلُ؟". فَقَالَ لَهُمْ: "أَنتُمْ قَدْ أُعْطِيَ لَكُمْ أَنْ تَعْلَمُوا أَسْرَارَ مَلَكُوتِ اللَّهِ، وَأَمَّا لِلْبَاقِينَ فَبِأَمْثَالٍ، حَتَّى إنَّهُمْ مُبْصِرِينَ لا يُبْصِرُونَ، وَسَامِعِينَ لا يَسْمَعُونَ، وَلا يَفْهَمُونَ. وَهَذَا هُوَ الْمَثَلُ: الزَّرْعُ هُوَ كَلاَمُ اللَّهِ، وَالَّذِينَ عَلَى الطَّرِيقِ هُمُ الَّذِينَ يَسْمَعُونَ، ثُمَّ يَأْتِي إبْلِيسُ وَيَنْزِعُ الْكَلِمَةَ مِنْ قَلْبِهِمْ، لِئَلاَّ يُؤْمِنُوا فَيَخْلُصُوا. وَالَّذِينَ عَلَى الصَّخْرِ هُمُ الَّذِينَ مَتَى سَمِعُوا يَقْبَلُونَ الْكَلِمَةَ بِفَرَحٍ، وَهَؤُلاَءِ لَيْسَ لَهُمْ أَصْلٌ، فَيُؤْمِنُونَ إلى حِينٍ، وَفي وَقْتِ التَّجْرِبَةِ يَرْتَدُّونَ. وَالَّذِي سَقَطَ بَيْنَ الشَّوْكِ هُمُ الَّذِينَ يَسْمَعُونَ، فَيَخْتَنِقُونَ مِنْ هُمُومِ الْحَيَاةِ وَغِنَاهَا وَلَذَّاتِهَا، وَلا يُثْمِرُونَ ثَمَراً. أمَّا الَّذِي سَقَطَ في الأَرْضِ الْجَيِّدَةِ، هُمُ الَّذِينَ يَسْمَعُونَ الْكَلِمَةَ فَيَحْفَظُونَهَا في قَلْبٍ جَيِّدٍ صَالِحٍ، وَيُثْمِرُونَ بِالصَّبْرِ. وَالْمَجْدُ لِلَّهِ دَائِماً.
