2:2-10

٢ : ٢ − ١٠

*And Jonas prayed to the Lord his God out of the belly of the fish. And he said: I cried out of my affliction to the Lord, and he heard me: I cried out of the belly of hell, and thou hast heard my voice. And thou hast cast me forth into the deep in the heart of the sea, and a flood hath compassed me: all thy billows, and thy waves have passed over me. And I said: I am cast away out of the sight of thy eyes: but yet I shall see thy holy temple again. The waters compassed me about even to the soul: the deep hath closed me round about, the sea hath covered my head. I went down to the lowest parts of the mountains: the bars of the earth have shut me up for ever: and thou wilt bring up my life from corruption, O Lord my God. When my soul was in distress within me, I remembered the Lord: that my prayer may come to thee, unto thy holy temple. They that are vain observe vanities, forsake their own mercy. But I with the voice of praise will sacrifice to thee: I will pay whatsoever I have vowed for my salvation to the Lord. Glory be to The Holy Trinity.

فَصلى يونان للرب إلهه من جوف الحوت. وَقَالَ: "صرختُ فِي ضِيقِي إلى الرَّبِّ إلهي، فَاسْتَجَابَ لي. وَمِنْ جَوْفِ الجحيم سَمِعَ صَوْتِي. قد طَرَحْتَنِي فِي أعماقِ البحرِ، فَأَحَاطَت بِي الأنهار وَجَازَتْ عليَّ جَمِيعُ أهوالك وَأمواجك. فَقُلْتُ: إني قَدْ طُرِدْتُ عنْ عَيْنَيْكَ فهل أَعُودُ أَنْظُرُ هَيْكَلِ قُدْسِكَ. قَدِ انسكبت علي المِيَاه حتى نفسي وَغطاني الغمر الاقصى. غطست رَأْسِي فِي شقوقِ جبالِ وَنَزَلْتُ إِلَيَّ مزاليجُها مغلقة إِلَى الأَبَدِ. فَلتصْعَد حياتي من الفساد أَيُّهَا الرَّبُّ إِلهِي. عند فناء نَفْسِي مني تَذَكَرْتُ رحمة الرَّبَّ. فلتصعد إِلَيْكَ صَلاَتِي إِلَى هَيْكَلِكَ المقدس. إن اَلَّذِينَ يحفظون الأَبَاطِيل والكذب يهملون رحمتهم. أَمَّا أَنَا فَبِصَوْتِ توسل وَاعتراف أَذْبَحُ لَكَ، وَمَا نَذَرْتُهُ أُوفِيك إياه أيها الرَّب مخلصي". فَأَمَرَ الرَّبُّ الْحُوتَ فَقَذَفَ يُونَانَ إِلَى اليبس. مَجْدَاً لِلثَالُوث الأَقَدَسْ.

* For he knows our frame: remember that we are dust. As for man, his days are as grass; He will not be always angry; neither will he be wrathful for ever. He has not dealt with us according to our sins, nor recompensed us according to our iniquities. Alleluia.

اذكر يا رب أننا تراب نحن. الإنسان أيامه كالعشب. ليس إلي الانقضاء يسخط ولا إلى الدهر يحقد. ليس حسب خطايانا عاملنا ولا كأثامنا كافئنا. هَلِّلُويَا.

*He spoke also this parable: A certain man had a fig tree planted in his vineyard, and he came seeking fruit on it, and found none. And he said to the dresser of the vineyard: Behold, for these three years I come seeking fruit on this fig tree, and I find none. Cut it done therefore: why cumbereth it the ground? But he answering, said to him: Lord, let it alone this year also, until I dig about it, and dung it. And if happily it bear fruit: but if not, then after that thou shalt cut it down. Glory be to God forever.

وَقَالَ لَهُمْ هذَا الْمَثَلَ: "كَانَ لِوَاحِدٍ تِينة مَغْرُوسَة فِي كَرْمِهِ، فَجَاءَ يَطْلُبُ فِيهَا ثَمَراً فَلَمْ يَجِدْ. فَقَالَ لِلْكَرَّامِ: ها إِنَّ لِي ثَلاَثُ سِنِينَ آتِي وَأَطْلُبُ ثَمَراً فِي هذِهِ التِّينَةِ فَلا أَجِدْ. اِقْطَعْهَا لِأنه لِمَاذَا تُعَطِّلُ الأَرْضَ أَيْضاً؟ فَأَجَابَ وَقَالَ لَهُ: يَا سَيِّدي، دعهَا هذِهِ السَّنَةَ أَيْضاً، حَتَّى أَعزق حَوْلَهَا وَأَضَعَ زِبْلاً لعلها تثمر فِي السنة الآتية، فَان لم تثمرفَاقْطَعُهَا". وَالْمَجْدُ لِلَّهِ دَائِماً.

*And you, whereas you were some time alienated and enemies in mind in evil works: Yet now he hath reconciled in the body of his flesh through death, to present you holy and unspotted, and blameless before him: If so ye continue in the faith, grounded and settled, and immoveable from the hope of the gospel which you have heard, which is preached in all the creation that is under heaven, whereof I Paul am made a minister. Who now rejoice in my sufferings for you, and fill up those things that are wanting of the sufferings of Christ, in my flesh, for his body, which is the church: Whereof I am made a minister according to the dispensation of God, which is given me towards you, that I may fulfill the word of God: The mystery which hath been hidden from ages and generations, but now is manifested to his saints, To whom God would make known the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles, which is Christ, in you the hope of glory. Whom we preach, admonishing every man, and teaching every man in all wisdom, that we may present every man perfect in Christ Jesus. Wherein also I labour, striving according to his working which he worketh in me in power. The grace of God the Father be with you all. Amen.

وأَنتُمُ أيضاً الَّذينَ كُنْتُمْ حيناً غُرَباءَ وأَعداء بأفكاركم بِالأَعمالِ الشِّرِّيرَةِ، قَدْ صَالَحَكُمُ الآنَ في جَسَدِ بَشَرِيته بموته ليقيم قِدِّيسينَ بغير عَيب ولا لَوم أمامه. إِنْ ثَبَتُّم على الإِيمانِ متأسسين وَرَاسِخينَ غَيرَ مُتَزَعزِعين عن رَجاءِ الإنجيل الَّذِي سَمِعتُموه المكروز به فِي كُلِّ الخَليقَة الَّتِي تَحتَ السَّماء الَّذِي وصِرتُ أَنا بولُسَ خادِمًا لَه. إني أفرح الآنَ فِي الآلامِ مِنْ أَجلِكم وَأكمل ما يَنْقُص مِن شَدائِدِ المسيح في جسمي لأجل جَسَدِه الَّذي هو الكَنيسة، الَّتِي صِرتُ أنا لَها خادِماً حَسَب تدبير الله المعطي لي لِأَجْلِكم لتتميم كَلِمَة الله، الَّتِي هي السِّر المكتوم منذ الدُّهَور والأَجيال وَقَد أعلن لِقِدِّيسيه، الَّذِين أَرادَ اللهُ أَن يُعلِمَهم ما هو غني مَجْد هذا السِّر فِي الأمم الَّذِي هو المسيح الحال فيكم رَجاء المَجْد. الَّذِي نُبَشِّرُ بِه منذرين كُلَّ إِنسان وَمُعَلِّمِينَ كُلَّ إِنْسَانٍ، بِكُلِّ حِكْمَةٍ، لِكَيْ نُقِيمَ كُلَّ إِنْسَانٍ كَامِلاً فِي الْمَسِيحِ يَسُوعَ. هَذَا الَّذِي لأَجْلِهِ أَتْعَبُ وَأَجاهِدُ على حَسَبِ عَمَلِهِ الَّذِي يَعْمَلُ فِيَّ بِقُوَّةٍ. نعمةُ اللَّهِ الآبِ فَلْتَحِلَّ عَلَى أرواحِنا يا آبائي وإخْوَتي. آمين.

4:3-11

٤ : ٣ − ١١

*For the time past is sufficient to have fulfilled the will of the Gentiles, for them who have walked in riotousness, lusts, excess of wine, revellings, banquetings, and unlawful worshipping of idols. Wherein they think it strange, that you run not with them into the same confusion of riotousness, speaking evil of you. Who shall render account to him, who is ready to judge the living and the dead. For, for this cause was the gospel preached also to the dead: that they might be judged indeed according to men, in the flesh; but may live according to God, in the Spirit. But the end of all is at hand. Be prudent therefore, and watch in prayers. But before all things have a constant mutual charity among yourselves: for charity covereth a multitude of sins. Using hospitality one towards another, without murmuring, As every man hath received grace, ministering the same one to another: as good stewards of the manifold grace of God. If any man speak, let him speak, as the words of God. If any man minister, let him do it, as of the power, which God administereth: that in all things God may be honoured through Jesus Christ: to whom is glory and empire for ever and ever. Amen. Do not love the world or the things in the world. The world passes away, and its desires; but he who does the will of God abides forever. Amen.

لأَنَّهُ يَكْفِيكُمْ الزَّمَانَ الَّذِي عَبَرَ. إِذْ كُنْتُمْ تَعْلَمون بهوى الأُمَمِ، متسكعين فِي الدَّعَارَةِ وَالشَّهَوَاتِ، وَإِدْمَانِ الْخَمْرِ بِأنواعٍ كثيرةٍ، وَاللهو، وَالدَنسِ، وَعِبَادَةِ الأَوْثَانِ الأَمْرُ الَّذِي فِيهِ يَسْتَغْرِبُونَ أَنَّكُمْ لَسْتُمْ تَرْكُضُونَ مَعَهُمْ إِلَى فَيْضِ هذِهِ الْخَلاَعَةِ، مُجَدِّفِينَ. أولئكَ الَّذِينَ سَوْفَ يُعْطُونَ جَواباً للمستعد أَنْ يَدِينَ الأَحْيَاءَ وَالأَمْوَاتَ. فَإِنَّهُ مِنْ أَجْلِ هذَا قَدْ بُشِّرَ الأَمْوَات الْمَوْتى أَيْضاً، لِكَيْ يُدَانُوا مِثلَ النَّاسِ بِالْجَسَدِ، وَيَحْيَوْا حَسَبَ اللهِ بِالرُّوحِ. وَإِنَّمَا نِهَايَةُ كُلِّ شَيْءٍ قَدِ اقْتَرَبَتْ، فَتَعَقَّلُوا وَاصْحُوا بالصَّلَوَاتِ. وَلكِنْ قَبْلَ كُلِّ شَيْءٍ، لِتَكُنْ المحبة دائمة فيكم بَعْضِكُمْ لِبَعْضٍ، لأَنَّ الْمَحَبَّةَ تُغَطي كَثْرَةً الْخَطَايَا. وَكُونُوا مُحِبين ضيافة بَعْضُكُمْ لِبَعْضٍ وَتكونوا بغيرِ تذمر. كُلُّ وَاحِد وَواحد فَبِحَسَبِ النعمة التي أَخَذَها تخدمون بها مِنْ تلقاء نفوسكم، كَوُكَلاَءَ صَالِحِينَ عَلَى لِنِعْمَةِ اللهِ ذات الأنواع الكثيرة. وَمن يَتَكَلَّمُ فعلى حسب أَقْوَال اللهِ. وَمن يَخْدِمُ فَعلى القُوَّةِ المُهيأة مِنَ اللهُ، لِكَيما يَتَمَجَّدَ اللهُ فِي كُلِّ شَيْءٍ بِيَسُوعَ الْمَسِيحِ، ذلك الَّذِي لَهُ الْمَجْدُ وَالعز إِلَى أَبَدِ الآبِدِينَ. آمِينَ. لا تُحِبُّوا العَالَمَ ولا الأشْيَاءَ التي في العَالَمِ، لأنَّ العَالَمَ يمْضِي وَشَهْوَتُهُ مَعَهُ، وأمَّا مَنْ يَعملُ مَشِيئَةَ اللهِ فإنه يَثْبُتُ إلى الأبدِ. آمين.

*And God indeed having winked at the times of this ignorance, now declareth unto men, that all should everywhere do penance. Because he hath appointed a day wherein he will judge the world in equity, by the man whom he hath appointed; giving faith to all, by raising him up from the dead. And when they had heard of the resurrection of the dead, some indeed mocked, but others said: We will hear thee again concerning this matter. So Paul went out from among them. But certain men adhering to him, did believe; among whom was also Dionysius, the Areopagite, and a woman named Damaris, and others with them. The word of the Lord shall grow, multiply, be mighty, and be confirmed, in the holy Church of God. Amen.

"فَقَدْ تغاضى اللهُ عَنْ أَزْمِنَةِ الْجَهْلِ فَيُبشر الآنَ جَمِيعَ النَّاسِ فِي كُلِّ مَكَانٍ أَنْ يَتُوبُوا. لأَنَّهُ قَدْ عين يَوْماً فِيهِ يَدِينَ الْمَسْكُونَةَ كلها بِالْعَدْلِ، بِالرَجُل الذي فرزه، مُقَدِّماً لِلْجَمِيعِ إِيمَاناً إِذْ أَقَامَهُ مِنَ بين الأَمْوَاتِ". فَلَمَّا سَمِعُوا بِقِيَامَةِ الأَمْوَاتِ كَانَ الْبَعْضُ يَسْتَهْزِئُونَ، وَالْبَعْضُ يَقُولُونَ: "سَنَسْمَعُ مِنْكَ عَنْ هذَا أَيْضاً!". وَهكَذَا خَرَجَ بُولُسُ مِنْ وَسْطِهِمْ. وَلَزَمَهُ أُنَاس وَآمَنُوا. وَكان من بَينَهُمْ دِنِيسِيُوسُ الأَرِيُوبَاغِيُّ، وَامْرَأَةٌ اسْمُهَا دَامَرِيسُ وَآخَرُونَ مَعَهُمَا. لَمْ تَزَلْ كَلِمَةُ الرَّبِّ تَنْمُو وتَكْثُرُ وتَعْتَزُّ وتَثْبُتُ، في بِيعَةِ اللَّهِ الْمُقَدَّسَةِ. آمين.

*And the multitudes running together, he began to say: This generation is a wicked generation: it asketh a sign, and a sign shall not be given it, but the sign of Jonas the prophet. For as Jonas was a sign to the Ninivites; so shall the Son of man also be to this generation. The queen of the south shall rise in the judgment with the men of this generation, and shall condemn them: because she came from the ends of the earth to hear the wisdom of Solomon; and behold more than Solomon here. The men of Ninive shall rise in the judgment with this generation, and shall condemn it; because they did penance at the preaching of Jonas; and behold more than Jonas here. No man lighteth a candle, and putteth it in a hidden place, nor under a bushel; but upon a candlestick, that they that come in, may see the light. The light of thy body is thy eye. If thy eye be single, thy whole body will be lightsome: but if it be evil, thy body also will be darksome. Take heed therefore, that the light which is in thee, be not darkness. If then thy whole body be lightsome, having no part of darkness; the whole shall be lightsome; and as a bright lamp, shall enlighten thee. Glory be to God forever.

وَلما ازدحمت الْجُمُوع، ابْتَدَأَ يَقُولُ: "إِنَّ هذَا الْجِيلُ شِرِّيرٌ. يَطْلُبُ آيَةً، فَلاَ يُعْطَى إِلَّا آيَةُ يُونَانَ النَّبِيِّ. لأَنَّهُ مثلما كَانَ يُونَانُ آيَةً لأَهْلِ نِينَوَى، كَذلِكَ يَكُونُ ابْنُ الإِنْسَانِ أَيْضاً لِهذَا الْجِيلِ. مَلِكَةُ التَّيْمَنِ سَتَقُومُ فِي الدِّينِ مَعَ رِجَالِ هذَا الْجِيلِ وَتَدِينُهُمْ، لأَنَّهَا أَتَتْ مِنْ أَقَاصِي الأَرْضِ لِتَسْمَعَ حِكْمَةَ سُلَيْمَانَ، وَهُوَذَا أَعْظَمُ مِنْ سُلَيْمَانَ ههُنَا! رِجَالُ نِينَوَى سَيَقُومُونَ فِي الدِّينِ مَعَ هذَا الْجِيلِ وَيَدِينُونَهُ، لأَنَّهُمْ تَابُوا بِمُنَادَاةِ يُونَانَ، وَههُنَا أَعْظَمُ مِنْ يُونَانَ! لَيْسَ أَحَدٌ يُوقِدُ سِرَاجاً وَيَضَعُهُ فِي مكانٍ خفيٍ، وَلاَ تَحْتَ مِكْيَالٍ، لَكِنْ عَلَى الْمَنَارَةِ، لِيَنْظُرَ الدَّاخِلُونَ النُّورَ. سِرَاجُ جَسَدِك هُوَ عَيْنُك، فَإذا كَانَتْ عَيْنُكَ بَسِيطَةً فَجَسَدُكَ كُلُّهُ يَكُونُ نَيِّراً، وَإذا كَانَتْ شِرِّيرَةً فَجَسَدُكَ كُلُّهُ يَكُونُ مُظْلِماً. فَاُنْظُرْ إِذاً لِئَلاَّ يَكُونَ النُّورُ الَّذِي فِيكَ ظلماً. فَإِنْ كَانَ جَسَدُكَ كُلُّهُ نَيِّراً لَيْسَ فِيهِ جُزْءٌ مُظْلِمٌ، فَيَكُونُ كُلُّهُ نَيِّراً، كَمَا يُضِيءُ لَكَ السِّرَاجُ بِلَمَعَانِهِ". وَالْمَجْدُ لِلَّهِ دَائِماً.
